SAMSUNG NOTE3 CLEAN FORMAT - ODIN Nand Erase All

What does this option do if i select it and use ODIN???
Will this Erase my phone content along with internal memory???
My Verizon Note 3 is Sim unlocked...so will this option lock my device???
(Updated: Actually all Verizon Note 3 are Sim Unlocked, so no worries there)

EDIT:

Well i finally did it...Thanks to our XDA member @mirek190 for clarifying the use of those options and guiding me through the steps...All credit goes to him...

He explains:
Quote:
Pit file setup partitions - very useful if you broke some partition...Nand Erase All clean all partitions including internal sdcard before installing rom...EFS ( block 11 ) on note 3 doesn't contain IMEI ( all devices on snapdragon ).
IMEI is on block 12 and 13. If you clean efs, the partition will be rebuild from block 12.
So you can check the options Re-partition, Nand Erase All and also Phone EFS Clear to do clean Wipe...and make sure you have the PIT file of the respective device and STOCK ROM.
I successfully did Clean Wipe and Erased User Data Partition on my Note 3 using Nand Erase All , Re-partition & Phone EFS Clear in ODIN 3.09...using Pit file and Stock ROM.

Note: I never had any problems in my Note 3 but i just wanted to a perform a clean Wipe of my Note 3

First we need ODIN latest version 3.09...

ODIN 3.09 : http://d-h.st/cEk

Then we need a pit file to put in PIT button in ODIN...

Pit file for Verizon Note 3 32 GB : http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23159073880936457

Pit file Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2484064

Then we need a STOCK ROM to put in AP button in ODIN...
(Note: Please make sure that the Stock ROM which u use to flash in ODIN is the same as the current bootloader in your device or newer. If you are on MJE bootloader then u can use MJE or NC4 Stock ROM and if you are already on NC4 bootloader then you can use only the NC4 Stock ROM or any newer Stock ROM than NC4 but cant use the older MJE Stock ROM.)

Stock ROMs Collection: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2524572

Thanks to @BeansTown106 for the Pit file & Stock ROMs...

Then put the device in Download Mode and connect it to PC...Check the status in ODIN after connecting...

Then select the options Auto Reboot, F.Reset Time, Nand Erase All, Re-partition & Phone EFS Clear in ODIN...
Put Pit file in PIT button and Stock ROM in AP button...

Make sure all settings in ODIN looks the same like in above image...ID:COM should show the device connection status...

Then click on start and let ODIN do the magic...you can also see the status "Erasing User Data Partition" in your phone in download mode...

After the Process completes the device Auto reboots and do not unplug the device until the status in ODIN is Pass...

(Note: If you are using 4.4.2 NC4 Kitkat Stock ROM in ODIN, then when the device auto reboots after flashing it doesnt initialise ever and gets stuck on the Verizon Logo, this is happening only with Kitkat firmware...So when ODIN Auto reboots the device after flashing we have to wait till the status is Pass and Exit option is highlighted in ODIN, then Unplug the device, remove the battery, Power on the device, go into recovery mode, perform Factory Reset Data, Wipe Cache Partition and reboot it.)

After first boot of the ROM, go into Stock Recovery mode and "Wipe Factory Reset/Data and Wipe Cache Partition" (Must step)

Now your Note 3 is Clean Wiped and installed with fresh STOCK ROM...

My Knox is also not tripped 0x0 and my sim is also Unlocked as before...

PS: So i think it is useful to do a Clean Wipe (Re-partition, Nand Erase All, Phone EFS Clear) only when

1) Your Partition is broken.
2) Your device is soft bricked.
3) You want to sell your phone.
4) Upgrading the firmware or bootloader (Like MI9 to MJ7, MJ7 to MJE or MJE to NC4)
5) Once in a while because of flashing Stock/Custom ROMS many times using ODIN or Safestrap...

And don't do clean wipe often because erasing the Nand often will degrade its quality...

Thanks for the help brothers...

[GUIDE] How to use ODIN for dummies

I didnt find any step-by-step tutorials about this on xda, which is kind of weird and because i have spare time and its 3:19am I decided to make this tutorial

EDIT: If you are coming from eclair, install a froyo ROM and make sure it has a bootloader. Remember, if you cancel an installation that changes your bootloader, or stop it in anyway, you may hardbrick your phone. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T CANCEL OR TRY TO PAUSE THE INSTALLATION, JUST LET IT FLASH SMOOTHLY. use a laptop if you can, just in case an unlucky power surge would stop the flashing process

EDIT2: Here is a good Tutorial video from xda user Tejas Ahobala (if you don't know what he is doing at the start, dont worry. He is doing a factory reset before flashing):

EDIT3: A word from one of the commenters:

1. The tip about some custom ROMs requiring a wipe data is important.
2. If you're already using CWM, use the 'shutdown' option and not the 'reboot' option when the phone reboots during the flashing process.

Here we go...
__________________________________________________ ____________
Terms and words -->
Flashing ==> means installing a new ROM
ROM ==> is the operating system, any version of modded or un-modded android
Android ==> Google made operating system!!!
ODIN ==> Here, it means the program that you can use to flash ROMs on your phone (the phone im going to use here is samsung galaxy 3)
Soft brick ==> No, not the construction brick, this means you've got no working operating system or you have one but its damaged and you can't use it, so you cant see your homescreen, you only see a boot-loop when it wants to come up. You can view your recovery and boot loader (The download screen) when soft bricked, so you can easily fix this problem by re-flashing.
Hard brick ==> Similar to the construction brick, your phone with little hope of recovery without sending to the samsung base for repairs  To avoid hard bricks, open the .TAR file which contains your ROM using winRAR, and check if it contains sbl.bin and boot.bin files or not. If it does contain, and you are nervous or this is your first time flashing etc, simply go and flash Kyrillos' ROM or Kyora ROM instead. (I'm not advertising, just stating a couple of ROMs that I know are safe) these ROMs can only soft brick your phone should the worse happen and there is no chance of hard brick
__________________________________________________ ____________
Should this guide be followed carefully, nothing harmful can happen to your phone. Yet I wont take responsibility if something happens to your phone.

Remember to Backup your contacts and apps!
**************************************
__________________________________________________ ____________

Stuff to download:
1) ODIN and a .OPS file, found HereOr alternatively here.
2) The ROM, depending on what ROM you want there are different versions available. check This thread, the kitchens/ stock ROM packs part for stock ROMs, or if you want to try a custom ROM, try any other. I personally use Kyrillos' ROM, or Hillbeast's KyoraROM. Marcellusbe is praised highly by all for giving us the Cyanogenmod.
__________________________________________________ ____________

1) Extract 'Flash tools.rar'

2) open Odin multi-downloader. This is how it's meant to look like.

NOTE: Sometimes some random error message with a korean writing pops up. dont worry, it's nothing, just press OK every time you see it

3) Press the OPS button located in the 'Select OPS' section, as shown in the image below. NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD ONLY USE THIS OPS FILE IF YOU HAVE SAMSUNG GALAXY 3. YOU MAY ENCOUNTER SERIOUS PROBLEMS IF YOU USE THIS OPS FILE WITH A DIFFERENT PHONE. (works with i5800 and i5801 as far as I know.)

4) Browse for the 'apollo_0531.ops' that came in the rar file with odin and select it.

5) Tick the One Package option located on the left side of the application.

6) The ROM that you have downloaded should have a .tar extension. If its a .rar file, open it. If it has a .tar file inside it, extract it and use it, but if it has some weird ass stuff in it that only Jesus and Chuck Norris understand the meaning of, you need to use the 'free rar extraction frog' application to turn it into a .tar file. Download it for free from here.

7) The above step was just to confirm if you have the right file, so you dont get any errors. Now just select One Package button that is highlighted in the picture and browse and select the .tar file.

8) Make sure you have ticked everything that I have ticked. Use picture from part 5.

9) Go to your phone. go to Settings->Applications->Development and tick USB debugging if its not already ticked.

10) make sure you have the device drivers, just install Samsung KIES from HERE to make sure you do have the drivers. If the page doesn't show, just Google 'download samsung KIES'

11) turn the phone off, take the USB out, and press volume up, home button (the big fat button in between the menu and back buttons) and the power button together. hold them until you see the 'FORCE UPLOAD BY KEY PRESSING' screen. Now plug the USB back in.

12) Odin will immediately recognize your phone, and there will be a yellow label, like so:

13) Double check that you haven't missed anything.

14) Press start! HERE

15) You will see a blue download screen, saying please don't interrupt. PLEASE DON'T INTERUPT IT!!!!

16) The process will finish and system will reboot one or two times. go have some tea and come back 15 minutes later. You should have the Rom of your desire working on your phone.

NOTE: Some custom ROMs require you to wipe system data and then wipe cache. don't forget to do that! restart phone after wiping the data etc. If you've flashed a custom Rom and the device is showing a stupid triangle with an exclamation mark inside it, dont panic, press the menu button and you will see the menu (This menu is called the recovery menu).

EDIT4: How to flash kernels (on galaxy3/apollo/5800/5801)

METHOD 1==>
1--> you go to the kernel thread and download their kernel. it is to be a .tar file. (eg g3mod.tar)
2--> follow steps 3 to 5 from above tutorial
3--> put phone in download mode (step 11) and connect with usb
4--> in odin, select the 'select as one package file' option and browse for the kernel .TAR file. select it.
5--> check youve done everything. YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE EVERYTHING IN THE TUTORIAL EXCEPT THIS TIME INSTEAD OF USING A ROM YOU'RE USING A KERNEL!!
6--> There is no need for wipe unless otherwise stated by the developer.
7--> congratz man, you got yourself a new kernel!!
OPTIONAL 8--> download setcpu from xda (you can also download off market and pay for it for the donation)
its really usefull, it lets you control how much your phone uses the cpu and you can undervolt the cpu etc, you will find more info on the setcpu thread.

METHOD2==> (Only works for some kernels)
1--> go to the g3mod website and download the .zip version of the kernel. (there is a .tar and .zip)
2--> put the .zip in the root of your sd card
3--> go to recovery mode by either using kyrillos' rom (press & hold power
then choose reboot into recovery) or by turning the phone off and pressing volume up and down and the power button all together. select install .zip from sdcard and then select your .zip you downloaded before.
4--> it will install. no wipe needed unless the dev says so. reboot. HAVE FUN!!

HOW TO FLASH ROMS USING SYSTEM.IMG
1) Download system.img from safe source, preferably provided by dev, or any other trusted member who knows what they are doing.
2) Flash g3mod ROM.
3) Copy the system.img and paste into this path in your sdcard:
sdcard/android/data/g3mod/roms/**there are several folders here, just paste the system.img to the folder that suits the rom's name**
4) Boot into recovery.
5) Go to Multiboot.
6) Select desired ROM.
7) Done

9.Now everything should be fine.

HOW TO DISABLE/UNINSTALL KNOX ON YOUR SAMSUNG GALAXY PHONES AND TABLETS

Samsung KNOX is a new Android-based solution specifically designed to enhance security of  the current open source Android platform, yet remain fully compatible with Android and the Google ecosystem. Samsung Knox is a complete enterprise mobile solution for employeed and businesses. With the release of Android 4.3, Samsung has added a security feature, called Knox. Samsung KNOX is the comprehensive enterprise mobile solution for work and play. With the increasing use of smartphones in businesses, Samsung KNOX addresses the mobile security needs of enterprise IT without invading the privacy of its employees. You can learn more about Samsung Knox at the Official Samsung website.
Disable KNOX Security Service on Samsung Galaxy Devices
KNOX Samsung’s Secure Android Platform
After updating and Rooting your device on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, You probably would have notice that the SuperSU Application is blocking and you might be getting this message:
SuperSU tried to access system in your device without authorization. This action was blocked
And definitely this is the reason why you’re here and looking for the solution and get rid of this error. This error can be eliminated by Disabling or Uninstalling the KNOX on your Samsung Galaxy device. There almost 3 different methods, using which you can do this, I will show all methods that you can use to uninstall KNOX, and then follow the one you think is easy, suitable and compatible for you.

3 Ways to Disable/Uninstall Samsung KNOX on your Device

1. Without Root Access

  • Head over to your App section and find the Knox app, launch it and tap on “Settings”
  • Choose “Knox Settings”
  • Select “Uninstall Knox”
  • When uninstalling Knox, you are asked if you want to back up your Knox data, which is then saved during the uninstall process in your device’s Knox folder. To back up this data, select “Backup Now”, and then OK.
  • That’s how easy it is.
Now what if you’ve got Root Access? You can also follow the below instructions:

2. For Rooted Phones and Tablets

  • Using Root Explorer App or Titanium Backup
  • Try Uninstalling it Using Terminal Emulator
1. Head over to Google Play Store and install ‘Explorer‘ or ‘Titanium Backup
2. Run the App you’ve just installed.
3. Tap the search button and write ‘Knox’ and you’ll get the list of all the files named as knox.
For Titanium Backup Users – Freeze the following:
  1. com.sec.enterprise.knox.attestation
  2. com.sec.knox.eventsmanager
  3. KLMS Agent
  4. KNOX
  5. Knox Notification Manager
  6. KNOX Store
4. Select all the files and Remove them.
5. That’s it and Reboot your Phone.

3. Disable KNOX Using Android Terminal Emulator

1. Install ‘Android Terminal Emulator‘ from Google Play Store.
2. Launch the application and it may prompt you for SuperSU access, just grant it the permission.
3. Type the following commands, which will ultimately disable the Knox Apps running in the background:
[highlight type=”e.g. yellow, black, green, red, grey”] su pm disable com.sec.knox.seandroid [/highlight]
4. Finally this will definitely block Knox on your device.
That was all you needed to know and learn about Samsung KNOX Security and the different ways, How you can Disable or Uninstall it. Hopefully it has worked for you, do let us know and share your experience and also let us know, if you do have another easy way to do it.

[ROOT][apk]{TowelRoot}[4.4.2] Does not trip KNOX and does not touch bootloader

Hi.

Geohot released a rooting method for most android phones, and it uses an apk to obtain root (dead simple too, push one button, no need for other tools and workarounds). It does not touch KNOX or the BOOT-LOADER so your warranty should be fine.

You can get it from the official website, or from the XDA thread.

I ran it on my n9005 - Europe - unlocked phone.
I am on official 4.4.2 N9005OXXENB1
Kernel 3.4.0-636608 (12.02.2014)
Steps taken by me (21.06.2014):
1. Download the tr.apk
2. Turn off re-lock and app security.
3. Run the tr.apk, hit make it rain.
4. Install SU from Playstore, update it, reboot phone.
5. Check root

5.b. Success!

NOTES & ISSUES:
1. After rooting, I am unable to do a full device encryption. (if you unroot it works properly)
Workaround for issue nr. 1: Do a full unroot, reboot, make sure you have TowelRoot installedbut do not root just yet, encrypt the phone, do a reboot, launch TowelRootroot, and you are good to go.
To decrypt your phone, you will need to unroot, thenreboot, and proceed with the decryption process.
2. On ROM 4.4.2 official n9005xxuend3 with kernel 3.4.0-1168347dpi@SWDD5623 #1 MON APR 14 17:32:48 KST 2014, using TowelRoot, results in System StatusCustom
Possible fix for issue nr. 2:
  • Enter BOOT-LOADER (from power off, power on while pressing volume up + home) and do a Cache Wipe
  • Another possible fix has been posted in the thread, and you can read it here. Also here and hehe.
3. It seems TowelRoot, does not work on n9000SOURCE IS HERE

Install International 4.3 ROM on Chinese N7100

With many tries, I have successfully installed Android 4.3 (4.3 ROM_INU-N7100XXUEMK4-20131119175336) in a Chinese N7100,
with working Wi Fi.

I would like to share, as how I did it. Here's the step by step procedure. This procedure needs lot of your time & sufficient:

1. First backup current ROM using CWM/TWRP. ( Better to be safe)
2. Download Chinese 4.3 stock ROM (CHN-N7100ZCUEMK3) from:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=21968
3. Also download India 4.3 stock ROM from : http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=21880
4. Extract both zip files & keep .tar.md5 files ready.
5. Get your phone to download mode, by pressing Volume down button+home button+power button
6. Connect your phone to PC. Open Odin 3.07
7. Select PDA tab & select the MK3.tar file & click start
8. Make sure that "Auto Reboot" & "F.Reset time" options are selected.
9. Wait for the firmware to get installed.
10. The phone will restart successfully. You will find that Wi Fi will be working fine.
11. Now step to root the phone.
12. Download the F-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip from:http://download.chainfire.eu/264/CF-...xx-gtn7100.zip.
14. Extract the zip file & get .tar file
15. This time use Odin V1.85
16. Select CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.tar in PDA tab @ click start.
17. Now the phone will restart with rooted. Don't open Super SU file.
18. Now it's time to update Super SU file with V1.80 version. You will not have pay store working.
So you have to install apk file from here --> http://download.chainfire.eu/370/
19. Put the super SU.apk file, in you SD card & install. ( make sure that install from unknown sources is selected)
20. Restart the phone
21. Now time to install Mobile Odin.apk file (You can get Mobile odin.apk from this linkhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1347899)
22. After the mobile odin is installed, open the file. It will ask for superuser permission. Press Grant. Then Mobile odin will download
some additional files. Let the download get completed.
23. Put "N7100XXUEMK4.tar" file in ext SD card.
24. Install .tar file using mobile odin. In this step select "Enable ever root", "Inject Super User",
"Inject Mobile Odin", "Wipe data and cache", "Wipe Dalvik Cache" options.
Now India 4.3 will get installed successfully & mobile will restart.
25.Superuser SU will not work. Don't panic.
26. Restart the phone in to download mode & repeat step 15 & 16
27. Now phone will restart, go to play store, update Super SU V1.80.
28. Open Super SU file, now the KNOX will be blocked by super SU.

That's it. You have successfully installed international (India) version Android 4.3 in Chinese Note II (N7100).
I am not expert, at the same time I am not a Noob. I just repeated the steps which I followed & decided to share with others,
so that it would help every one.

Sony Flash Tool Original ROM From Sony

Sony Flash Tool (originally called Emma) is official flashing tool from Sony, which allows you to update or reinstall your Xperia with unlocked bootloader (other official tools like PC Companion and Sony Update Service can't update/reinstall your Xperia if you have unlocked bootloader)

How to install Emma?

  1. Download the Flash tool for Xperia devices.
  2. Unzip the file you downloaded and place it somewhere on your computer.
  3. In the unzipped folder, run Emma.exe. During the installation, make sure you remember the installation path:
Default path in Windows 64 bit is: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Mobile\Emma\”
Default path in Windows 32 bit is: “C:\Program Files\Sony Mobile\Emma\”
  4. Copy the Customization.ini file. You find it in the Flash_tool_for_Xperia_X.zip.
  5. Paste the Customization.ini file into the installation folder. The installation folder is the folder named Emma in the installation path examples on point 3 above.
  6. Run Emma.

How to use Emma?

When you have installed the flash tool for Xperia™, you can flash standard Sony software on your unlocked Xperia™ device. Note! When you flash software onto your device, your user data and content will be erased. Make sure to properly back up all information.
This is how you flash software on your phone:
  1. Computer: Open Emma
  2. Connect a USB cable to your computer.
  3. Phone: Turn off your phone.
  4. Connect your phone to the USB cable while holding the flash key (for example Volume down). The flash key varies between models. For a complete key mapping, see the supported phones page or list below.
  5. Computer: Select the software you want to flash in the Service list. The tool automatically detects the phone model and lists available software versions, which are called Services in this flash tool.
  6. Click on Apply Service. The phone will now be flashed.
  7. Phone: When you have flashed your device, you can disconnect your phone from the computer. The first time you start your device after you have flashed it, the boot-up might take a little longer than normal.
